Wikipedia has been switched to a new software, called the PHP script, on January 25, 2002.
- Called the PHP script? Let's give this script a proper name! --Stephen Gilbert
- How about Inkwell or PHPedia for starters? --MarkReid
- I thought it was already called "PediaWiki"... --Larry_Sanger
Information and discussion about this software can be found on the following pages:
Old pages that should be moved into the Wikipedia namespace:
Magnus Manske is the author of the software, which is written in PHP and uses an underlying MySQL relational database. The software is released under GPL. Other programmers are strongly urged to get involved. Some discussion of the script and requirements are ongoing on Wikipedia-L.
The code can be gotten via anonymous CVS from the Sourceforge Wikipedia project. To download the latest code, use
CVSROOT = ":pserver:[email protected]:/cvsroot/wikipedia" Module: phpwiki no password Directory: fpw
Note: do not download the tar.gz file from sourceforge, it is outdated.
