Provinces of Ireland

Historically, Ireland is made up of four provinces, each containing a number of counties. The provinces are of no real administrative significance - except in sport, which is often organised on a county or provincial basis.

Connaught:

Leinster:

• Carlow

• Dublin

• Kildare

• Kilkenny

• Laois (Queens County)

• Longford

• Louth

• Meath

• Offaly (Kings County)

• Westmeath

Munster:

• Clare

• Cork

• Kerry

• Limerick

• Tipperary

• Waterford

Ulster (six of the nine counties are in Northern Ireland, and three are in the Republic):
