DWIZ (882 kHz Metro Manila) is an AM station of Aliw Broadcasting Corporation in the Philippines. The station's studio is located at the 5/F of Citystate Centre in Pasig City, while its transmitter is located at Brgy. Pag-asa, Obando, Bulacan, Philippines. DWIZ operates 24 hours daily except Holy Week of each year where it signs-off at midnight of Maundy Thursday until 4:00 AM of Easter Sunday. The current station manager of DWIZ is Rey Langit.
At present, DWIZ is considered as one of the top stations in the AM band in Metro Manila and is recognized as the best AM radio station in the Philippines by the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas or KBP.
History
DWIZ was formerly known as DZPI from March 20, 1949 to September 23, 1972 owned by Philippine Broadcasting Corporation. DZPI renamed as DWIZ on September 24, 1972 after being sold to a company owned by PBC former Ambassador and Colonel Antonio L. Cabangon-Chua. In 1992 The new company became known as Aliw Broadcasting Corporation. In 1996, the station awarded as the Best AM station in the KBP Golden Dove Awards.
Using Tagalog as its medium, it brings much needed information and entertainment to its listeners all over the Philippines and neighboring Asean countries, targeting the upper four economic classes. DWIZ is headed by Rey Langit & a formidable team of broadcasters.
