Founded in 1973, the University of Delhi's Department of Business Economics pioneered the Masters Program in Business Economics, MBE, combining theoretical excellence with real-world practicality. The University of Delhi (DU) changed the Master's Program to the MBA in Business Economics in 2015 to respond to changing business dynamics. Patterned on a similar program conducted by Harvard Business School,[1] "change is the only constant" is an adage that the Department of Business Economics sincerely believes in.
The department boasts an eclectic and erudite group of faculty, researchers, and professionals, with their vast pool of managerial expertise, who contribute to giving the Department a distinctive edge and exalted stature. It takes pride in its graduates, who have made lasting impacts on the industry through their quantitative and qualitative expertise. Courses
[edit]The flagship business program at this niche business school is its two-year full-time MBA in Business Economics. This niche business school further offers dual specialization in Marketing, Finance and Analytics majors or specializations. New papers on Global Finance, Business Policy, Environment Economics and Resource Management and Economics of Services have been included as the syllabus was further revised in 2010 to include various other domains of business.
The department offers Ph.D. program to which admissions are made in accordance with the rules of the University of Delhi. The department introduced, with effect from 1995–96, an undergraduate Honors Courses in Business Economics, Financial and Investment Analysis, Management Sciences, Multimedia and Mass Communication, and Vocation in selected colleges of the University of Delhi. An updated syllabus was implemented from the academic year 2003.

The first year covers Micro and Macroeconomic Analysis, Business Finance, Leadership, and Organization. The second year offers diverse specializations such as Advanced Econometrics, Strategic Marketing, Financial Derivatives, and Urban Transport Economics. This flexibility enables students to tailor their academic journey to align with specific career goals.
The program's distinct features include the integration of Business Analytics, dual specialization options, and practical training, positioning graduates as versatile professionals ready for the complexities of the dynamic business landscape. By fostering a deep understanding of economic principles and their practical applications, the program empowers graduates to excel in leadership roles and contribute meaningfully to the global business environment.
Since this is a niche business school batch, intake is very selective ~ 129 students which allows for a well-knit cohort. Yet, students have access to the huge infrastructure of the University of Delhi especially its South Campus where the Department is located.
Notable alumni of the course are spread across organizations in Finance, Marketing, Analytics, Consulting & Economics roles. Recent years have however seen a distinctive trend for students to opt for careers in Analytics & Consulting, BFSI & Financial markets, Marketing Strategy, Market Research and Economic Research.
