Submission declined on 8 July 2024 by SafariScribe (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia. This submission does not appear to be written in the formal tone expected of an encyclopedia article. Entries should be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources. Please rewrite your submission in a more encyclopedic format. Please make sure to avoid peacock terms that promote the subject.

Donatiello II dwarf galaxy imaged by the Hubble Space Telescope.
Giuseppe Donatiello (born 14 December 1967) is an Italian amateur astronomer.[1], author of articles and astronomical news[2]. He is primarily known as the discoverer of eleven nearby dwarf galaxies in the Local Volume[3][4].
- He discovered in 2016 a dwarf galaxy about 10 million light years away in the constellation of Andromeda called Donatiello I[5]. This is the first galaxy to be named after its non-professional discoverer[6][7].
- In 2020, he discovered the ultrafaint dwarf galaxy named Pisces VII/Triangulum III[8][9] which turned out to be a strong satellite candidate of the dwarf spiral galaxy Messier 33[10][11]. Pisces VII is the first Local Group galaxy to be discovered by a non-professional astronomer[12][13].
- Also in 2021, the discovery of three new satellites of the spiral galaxy NGC 253 was announced[14]. These three new galaxies were named Donatiello II, III and IV[15]. All were later observed and confirmed as satellites of NGC 253 by the Hubble Space Telescope[16][17][18][19].
- In 2022, he discovered a very faint satellite of M31 which was named Pegasus V / Andromeda XXXIV[20][21]. This object turned out to be particularly ancient and could be a fossil of the first star formation[22][23].
- In 2024, the discovery of five more satellite galaxies of the NGC 253 galaxy was announced. The new objects were named Donatiello V, VI, VII, VIII and IX[24][25].
To these discoveries must be added some candidate planetary nebulae[26] and the participation in the discovery and analysis of several dozen stellar streams[27][28]
He is the principal investigator and coordinator of the National Deep Sky Research Section of the Italian Amateur Astronomers Union[29].
