Summary

Description

Bertha, the world's largest tunnel boring machine, has been stuck since December 2013 and was lifted to the surface in March 2015. Inside this canvas shed lies the front end of Bertha, where workers are inspecting and repairing components that failed two years ago.

Current estimates (as of July 17, 2015) have Bertha resuming digging on November 23 and its tunnel being completed and open to traffic in March 2018.
