ID#: 5778 Description: This scanning electron micrograph depicts a number of Gram-negative Campylobacter jejuni bacteria, magnified 11,734x.

C. jejuni is a slender, curved, motile rod that’s microaerophilic, i.e., it has a requirement for reduced levels of oxygen. It’s relatively fragile, sensitive to environmental stresses such as drying, heating, disinfectants, and acidic conditions.
