DescriptionClose-up of raised bascule span of Broadway Bridge (Portland) in 2013.jpg
Close-up of the double-leaf bascule draw span of the Broadway Bridge, in Portland, Oregon, opened for a ship to pass. The bridge was completed in 1913 and is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. Visible on the bridge are streetcar tracks and (rigid) overhead electric conduits for the Portland Streetcar system, which restored streetcar service across the bridge in 2012. Streetcars previously crossed the bridge from 1913 until 1940.
