Summary

Description
English: Comparison of positive and negative birefringence by CMG Lee. In negative birefringence (1), the polarisation parallel (p) to the optic axis A is the fast ray (F) while the perpendicular polarisation (s) is the slow ray (S). In positive birefringence (2), it is the reverse.
