Object history
Deutsch: Die bewurzelte rote Buche wurde aus dem für den Namen redenden Wappen des ehemaligen Augustinerchorherrenstifts Rottenbuch übernommen, das bis zur Säkularisation 1803 die Hofmarksherrschaft über Wildsteig und Umgebung ausübte. Der goldene Bienenkorb auf einem Hügel stammt aus dem persönlichen Wappen des Rottenbucher Propstes Ambrosius Mösner (Mösmer). Der Bienenkorb spielt auf den heiligen Ambrosius an. Mösner, geboren in Prachtsried am Auerberg (Gemeinde Bernbeuren), verbrachte seine Jugendzeit in Wildsteig. Unter seiner Regierungszeit als Propst (1775-1798) ließ er die Pfarrkirche St. Jakob in Wildsteig restaurieren, frühklassizistisch ausstatten und den Turm im Stil des Rokoko ausbauen. Die Feldfarben entsprechen den bayerischen Landesfarben.
