Other information |
The original copyright of this image was obtained by Donna J. Stone in 1991. After her death in 1994, the copyright was transferred to her son, Christopher K. Stone. Dr. Stone renewed the copyright in 2009. Although the image qualifies as fair use, Dr. Stone has given permission for the image to be used in several publications and on several websites, including Wikipedia. I emailed Dr. Stone about using Ms. Stone's picture in this particular Wikipedia article, and he replied with an email granting the requested permission. (A copy of this email can be provided, if necessary.) |

Purpose of use |
This picture of Donna J. Stone is used in most articles about her, her poetry, and her philanthropic activities. This image is closely tied to the public perception of Ms. Stone and her works, such that an article about her would be less recognizable, at least initially, without the presence of this picture. |
Replaceable? |
To my knowledge, this is the only picture of Ms. Stone that has been published, either in print or on the web. (Dr. Stone confirmed this in his email.) Since Donna J. Stone died in 1994, it is impossible to obtain another picture of her that could be a free equivalent. |
