Summary

Description
English: Dowlais Iron Works This is the very last cast iron ingot made at the world famous Dowlais Iron Works. Dowlais Iron works was a forerunner and also the world's largest iron maker during the Industrial Revolution. By 1845 18 blast furnaces were operating producing 89,000 tons of iron a year. The first iron was made on this site in 1759. At the height of production over 7300 people were employed.
