Description: Found on the Buckwheat Dump. MOB coll. The SW response is an approximation. With the naked eye I just see green. But my camera thinks there is blue as well. Of course blue is not surprising for fluorite so maybe it’s really there. My UV source is weak so I need long exposures. Perhaps that explains why the camera sometimes picks up colors (such as the orange spots) that I’m not aware of visually. Anyway – just a rough indication. This specimen has been kept in the dark (mostly) but it’s not as bright as a freshly broken surface. This stuff also phosphoresces, glows when heated and also when struck (triboluminescent). Used to be this stuff was available by the bucketful.
