Summary

Description
English: Gordon Cooper used this helmet while training for his Mercury 9 mission aboard Faith 7 in 1962. Modeled to fit Cooper’s head, the helmet is made of a white fiberglass composite and has a leather comfort pad inside, suede-covered earphones, and an interior microphone for hands-free communication. Picture taken at the National Air and Space Museum's Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Virginia, USA.
