Description
English: Title: 'Izanagi and Izanami giving birth to Japan'. Izanagi churns the naginata Ame-no-Nuboko (heavenly jeweled spear) in the water to raise the primordial land from the sea. After an artwork by Kawanabe Kyosai (1831-1889). Made in circa 1870 by unknown artist and captured on film for The Connoisseur magazine in 1925.
