Summary

Description
English: The photo shows an earlier grave cross for Peter Kollwitz (1896-1914), possibly from the former German military cemetery Esen Roggeveld in West Flanders, Belgium, but not the first one. According to his close friend and regimental colleague Hans Koch (1897–1995), this one bore the inscription: »Here died the hero's death for his fatherland Peter Kollwitz, war volunteer Res. Inf. Reg. 207«. The pictured wooden grave cross with the inscription »Peter Kollwitz R.J.R. 207 † 23.10.14« (R.J.R. = Reserve Infantry Regiment) is part of the permanent exhibition of the In Flanders Fields Museum in Ypres, West Flanders, Belgium.
