L'intérieur de l'église pendant une répétition du Requiem de Verdi par un orchestre, trois choeurs et des chanteurs solistes

Le quartier de Javel est essentiellement marqué par l’industrie des transports : locomotives, wagons, aérostats, et surtout l’activité automobile à partir de 1919. C’est pourquoi l’église est dédiée à saint Christophe, le patron des voyageurs... L’Eglise Saint Christophe de Javel est la première église préfabriquée de France dans les années 1920 / 1930. extrait du site de la paroisse

Son architecte est Charles-Henri Besnard (1881-1946), un pionnier des techniques d'industrialisation du bâtiment.
