Summary

Description
English: To collect the Danegeld tax in 991–1016 the Anglo-Saxons divided their territory into tax districts. The Staincliffe wapentake and Ewcross wapentakes covered the region we have called Craven District since 1974, but also parts of areas beyond it such as Forest of Bowland and South Cumbria
