Summary

Description
English: A comparison of angles on the sphere and Mercator's projection. A shows a rhumb (red) and a general curve tangential at one point. At B the angle between two intersecting lines and the meridian is conserved so the angle between them is conserved, that is the angle between any two lines at their point of intersection is conserved, as at C. D shows comparable infinitesimal elements.
