Monument 3 is one of the earliest examples of writing and calendrics in Mesoamerica. Monument 3 depicts a slain captive with two glyphs inscribed below the body, probably giving the calendrical name of the victim (as given by his birth-day in the 260-day sacred Mesoamerican calendar (see Tonalpohualli).
