Summary

[edit]

Fair use and reason why this cannot be replaced by free media

[edit]

Pat Morita, the actor representing Kesuke Miyagi in the Karate Kid TV franchise died in 2005, making the act of obtaining free media on Miyagi character impossible. The promotional still from the original Karate Kid movie is being used to present Mr. Miyagi.

  1. The image illustrates the text and the subject for which it appears. It describes the character played by the person being promoted
  2. It is a low-resolution image of the original, which was first printed in a magazine/game program in a larger format.
  3. Using this image does not limit the copyright holder's use in any reasonable way.
  4. The image has already been placed on the web. Thus, its use on Wikipedia does not make it any more accessible than it was before.
  5. The image is being used exclusively for informative purposes to present the character Miyagi.
  6. No free images of Mr. Miyagi currently exist because Pat Morita, the actor who represented him, is deceased.
