RKO_backlot_-_Mayberry_courthouse.jpg (755 × 423 pixels, file size: 221 KB, MIME type: image/jpeg)

Description 2D image, exported from a 3D model, of a building that once existed, until 1976, on the now demolished RKO Studios backlot called Forty Acres. The building was used as a film set and appeared on the popular television series The Andy Griffith Show as the fictional Mayberry courthouse and Sheriff Andy Taylor's (Andy Griffith) office. The building was used as the central set for most exterior shots. To the west, in an adjacent structure, was Floyds barbershop. A replica of the courthouse facade was also constructed at the Desilu Cahuenga Studios in Hollywood, where all interior production was conducted. A backdrop there of the backlot street, used outside the replica's doorway, gave a seamless impression that all interior shots of the courthouse took place on the actual backlot.
