Summary

Description
English: The Mounds is locally known as Rakshasidanga and Raja Karna's Palace (RAJBARI DANGA) have been excavated by the Archaeological Survey of India and Archaeological Department of University of Calcutta respectively. The discovery of a terracotta sealing by the University of Calcutta bearing the legend Raktamrittika Mahavihara has identified the location of the monastery bearing the same name described in the accounts of Hiuen Tsang who visited the palace in the first half of the 7th century AD. A wide area contains vestiges of ancient remains datable to c.2nd century AD to 15th - 16th century AD at present.

Located in a remote area named Karna Subarna, there is no proper communication system to reach this mound other than hiring a car from Berhampore. Not all drivers are aware of the location too. Bus service is infrequent.
