Summary

Description
English: From successive incarnations of Southampton's motte and bailey castle, only this stretch of the bailey wall survives today, lying just off Castle Lane. The motte (mound) upon which the castle once sat has been levelled and is now occupied by the large block of flats (pictured in the background). The bailey wall is a Grade II* Listed Building.
