Anancient temple is passed at Bhaniyar,standing in a fine cloister, one of themost complete and interesting of allin Kashmir, and then the fort andvillage of Nowshera. 15* m. Here Kashmirdoongas, or house - boats, can beprocured for the life on the river ; ifit is desired to make the journeyon to Srinagar by such a boat,it is best to arrange for one before-hand through the above Agents.The larger doongas may be hiredfor Rs. 20 a month ; the smaller,generally used for kitchen and ser-vants, cost Rs. 15 a month. Theseprices include four boat people toeach boat. [On leaving Baramula by boat.Bopor is passea at the entrance to theWular Lake. Fair mahsir fishing maybe obtained here. Sopor is the start-ing point for the Lolab Valley andNagmarg. When the river is highboats go from Sopor to Shadipore bythe Naru Canal. If the water is insuf-ficient for the canal, the Wiilar Lakeshould be crossed early in the day,as dangerous storms sometimes ariselater. The Wular Lake is the largestin India, being I2| m. long by 5 m.broad. From the Wular the boatsjoin the river by a small canal, whichleaves the river at Hanjan. 5 m. N.of this is the Lanka Island, withthe ruins of an old temple. 8 m.up stream from Hanjan is Sambal.This is the starting point for thetrip by boat to the exquisitelybeautiful Manastoal Lake, with anold temple immersed in the waterat the S.E. end of it.
