English: St Ambrose Barlow, 1585 – 1641, a Benedictine priest who was ultimately one of a group of saints canonized by Pope Paul VI who became known as the Forty Martyrs of England and Wales.
Denis Parsons depicts the 4' high Lime wood figure with paint brushes in the pocket, as he was noted for painting pictures of the Vigin Mary, uttering his Rosary as he moves along prayfully.
