Tectonical_map_of_East_Africa.png (454 × 382 pixels, file size: 42 KB, MIME type: image/png)

This geology image could be re-created using vector graphics as an SVG file. This has several advantages; see Commons:Media for cleanup for more information. If an SVG form of this image is available, please upload it and afterwards replace this template with {{vector version available|new image name}}.

It is recommended to name the SVG file “Tectonical map of East Africa.svg”—then the template Vector version available (or Vva) does not need the new image name parameter.

Summary

Description
English: Map of East Africa showing some of the historically active volcanoes(red triangles) and the Afar Triangle (shaded, center) -- a so-called triple junction (or triple point), where three plates are pulling away from one another: the Arabian Plate, and the two parts of the African Plate (the Nubian and the Somali) splitting along the East African Rift Zone. The red triangles show historically active volcanoes.
