English: Whittier Hall, Morningside Heights, NYC
The building in this photo, Whittier Hall, at 1230 Amsterdam Avenue in New York City, is a residence hall for Teachers College, Columbia University.
It was built for Teachers College in 1901 by the Morningside Realty Company and included a mix of apartments and dormitory rooms. Consisting of four wings, they were called Lowell, Longfellow, Whittier, and Emerson Halls, though now the entire complex is known as Whittier. The building's architects were Bruce Price and his associate J.M.A. Darragh in the Collegiate Gothic style.
