Deutsch: Ostansicht des Volkstheater am Arthur-Schnitzler-Platz im 7. Wiener Gemeindebezirk Neubau.
Das Theater wurde ab 1887 nach Plänen von Hermann Helmer und Ferdinand Fellner in Neorenaissanceformen errichtet und am 14. September 1889 mit Ludwig Anzengrubers Schauspiel „Der Fleck auf der Ehr’“ als Deutsches Volkstheater eröffnet. Über dem Hauptportal befinden sich die Büsten von Ferdinand Raimund, Johann Nestroy und Franz Grillparzer. Diese wurde im Zuge der Generalsanierung 1989 angebracht. Ursprünglich gab es welche von Friedrich Schiller, Gotthold Ephraim Lessing und Grillparzer. |
