DescriptionWreck of the Hemsley I in Fox Cove (geograph 4419983).jpg
English: Wreck of the Hemsley I in Fox Cove. The Hemsley I oil tanker was being taken from Liverpool to Antwerp for breaking up but went ashore here on 12th May 1969. According to the reports she had seriously lost her way and believed she was off The Lizard, on the south coast! Her distress call stated that that she had foundered on the rocks below Lizard Point in thick mist, and had no power, steam or lights. Lifeboats and coastguards around the south coast were alerted and the search extended until she was finally located at Fox Cove (on the North Coast of Cornwall).
