It sure is!Lily20 (talk) 23:35, 12 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I saw this when it was the featured picture. This has my vote for the coolest picture I have ever seen. I wallow in my geekdom. --Geneb1955 (talk) 05:35, 18 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This picture makes me feel small. The Earth is a fraction of a minute particle of dust in the seemingly endless expanses of space and time. ~Ashby —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.164.239.218 (talk) 12:55, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Shadows

[edit]

I've always thought the shadows in this image were a bit odd. Would a luminous body cast a shadow? Instead, wouldn't the area in proximity to a star actually be brighter than more distant locations? I would think the image could simply depict the stars in space. - Parsa (talk) 20:36, 19 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Luminous bodies do cast a shadow; try shining a bright light on a burning candle. Norman21 (talk) 18:40, 5 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

-- yes, but the purpose of eliminating the light emitted from the stars was to simply show their surface area. --98.108.136.73 (talk) 07:37, 11 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
