Francisco Manuel Homem Cristo Filho (Lisbon, 5 March 1892 – Rome, 12 June 1928) was a Portuguese writer and a fervent supporter of Italian fascism.[1]

Biography

In 1915, he founded the newspaper Ideia Nacional,[2] directed the Agencia Informativa Fast,[3] and became a traveling ambassador for Sidónio Pais's Lusitanian Integralism.[4][5]

In January 1918, he became the director of the DSIPRPPAA (Direction of Information and Propaganda of the Portuguese Republic in Friendly and Allied Countries), located at 9 Rue Anatole-de-La-Forge, in Paris.[6] In 1923, he transitioned from anarcho-syndicalist activism to fascist propaganda, publishing Benito Mussolini: Builder of the Future in Paris.[7][8]

On 28 May 1926 he succeeded Manuel de Oliveira Gomes da Costa as second-in-command of the Estado Novo military dictatorship.[7]

He died in a car accident in Rome on 12 June 1928.[9]

Family

He was the son of Laura and Francisco Manuel Homem Cristo, and the great-grandfather of Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, one of the two members of the group Daft Punk.[10]
