The 42nd District of the Iowa Senate is located in eastern Iowa, and is currently composed of part of Benton and Linn Counties.[1]

The area of the 42nd District contains two Iowa House of Representatives districts:[3]
- The 83rd District (represented by Martin Graber)
- The 84th District (represented by Joe Mitchell)
The district is also located in Iowa's 2nd congressional district, which is represented by Mariannette Miller-Meeks.[4]
