Tied or halved?
[edit]Are drawn matches in golf now referred to as "tied" rather than "halved"? I can see tied in the results tables here where halved might have been used before. Bcp67 (talk) 16:43, 29 September 2023 (UTC)
- Both the rules of golf and official scoring use tied. Other sources are mixed, with many (particularly older journalists and ex-players) insisting on persisting with traditional terminology. Personally, I think we should follow the rules and use tied as it's more understandable/accessible for non-golf readers. wjematherplease leave a message... 16:56, 29 September 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you, an outsider to golf I didn't know, so thanks - and understable about using a more accessible terminology. Bcp67 (talk) 18:21, 29 September 2023 (UTC)
- The official terminology only changed with the release of the new/updated Rules of Golf in 2019, hence the ongoing strong resistance to accepting it (let alone adopting it) from some traditionalists. wjematherplease leave a message... 18:27, 29 September 2023 (UTC)

- Matchies are tied, holes are halved. Tvx1 11:30, 8 October 2023 (UTC)
Percentages wrongly calculated
[edit]It looks like win percentage is wrongly calculated. For example McIlroy has 12 wins, 4 tied and 12 losses. Win percentage is not 50 %, but ~46 %. Every percentage needs to be recalculated. 143.97.2.35 (talk) 12:23, 2 October 2023 (UTC)
- It's percentage of points won; 12 wins, 12 losses and 4 ties is 28 points from a possible 56, which is 50%. wjematherplease leave a message... 16:02, 2 October 2023 (UTC)
- One point for a win, a half for a tie. So 14 out of 28 points, but still the same percentage. Tvx1 11:29, 8 October 2023 (UTC)
