Transfer to Man Utd

[edit]

Is there any proof that the transfer has been completed? All I can see is that there it's an agreement that will be completed at a later date / in January, not that he will become a United player on the stroke of midnight of the New Year. Spike 'em (talk) 08:13, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I’m with you. There is no evidence he has been awarded a work permit, signed a contract or passed a medical yet. He’s not a United player until United say he is. – PeeJay 14:57, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed, wait until the deal is announced. The transfer window only opened 12 hours ago, he's got the whole of January to possibly sign. Joseph2302 (talk) 12:09, 2 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Does it matter than the official Man Utd site have announced that a deal has been reached? Paul Vaurie (talk) 19:56, 4 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
"He will join United at a later date, subject to medical, personal terms and work permit". Nehme1499 (talk) 20:35, 4 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Anyway, he left for Manchester today. He should be officially announced in the next few days. Nehme1499 (talk) 20:40, 4 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Paul Vaurie: Did you miss the fact that January is 31 days long? Just because January has started doesn't mean he's automatically a United player on 1 Jan. – PeeJay 23:10, 4 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Especially as the transfer window didn't open until 2 January, so there is no legal way for him to have signed on that date..... Joseph2302 (talk) 00:12, 5 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Not really the point I was making, but sure... – PeeJay 01:44, 5 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Scources have confirmed he has moved to Man U Anonymoususertd2008 (talk) 22:56, 5 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Wait for United to actually announce him (press conference, passing the medical, shirt number, these kinds of things). Nehme1499 (talk) 23:29, 5 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
If sources have confirmed it, you wouldn't mind posting them here so we can verify that... – PeeJay 22:09, 6 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

The club says he prefers to go by Amad, should we change the 'Diallo's on the page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2607:FEA8:A420:AD10:B4FD:8001:479D:B2D (talk) 20:24, 9 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Dele Alli also prefers to go by his first name, yet we use "Alli" in the article. Nehme1499 (talk) 20:32, 9 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

"formerly known as"

[edit]

Is this still necessary in the lead: it is not his birth name and all the coverage now uses his correct name. I have no problem with the former name being mentioned in the Early / Personal life sections, but if not now, there will be a time soon when his former name will just be a footnote in his life story. Spike 'em (talk) 19:29, 10 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Spike 'em: I have no issue in removing it from the lead. Nehme1499 (talk) 20:03, 10 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
