Career

[edit]

Cassie is a fashion model, she is a professionally trained dancer, and she co-wrote several songs on her first album. She also is now a mainstream actress and occasional video model. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.255.3.87 (talk) 00:02, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

She is doing good..there is a lot to come.., I love you!! Deepaking (talk) 00:20, 3 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

"Still Cassie" is NOT the album title

[edit]

People need to stop posting and saying that it is. Also she has NOT left Bad Boy, and her MySpace has ALWAYS said indie, it NEVER said major. She is still with Bad Boy for what we know and unless someone can post a reliable sourcing proving otherwise, it will not be accepted in this article. And her MySpace is not a reliable source. I think this article needs to be protected from ALL edits until there is news, and there won't be any news on her until her new sinlge is released (which, btw, is NOT "Sometimes"). First Me & U Vid

[edit]

In the end (and this SURE looks like the end for her), this brief controversey was one a "highlight" of her career. To restrict it to the Me & U article (and subsequently remove it from this one) is fishy - wikipedia's purpose is not to present the most polished, flattering perspective but a truthful one. User:67.85.178.227

Huge problem

[edit]

The LAST SENTENCE in this article - about the original Me & U video - was just popped in by someone with no sense of organization. Also, it hasn't been "rumoured" - it EXISTS. It's constantly being added and deleted from youtube. (removed unsourced contentious material per policy) We need the video controversey in this main article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tyko Bungalow (talkcontribs) 05:56, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ugh

[edit]

YOU NEED TO CITE WHAT YOU WRITE (removed unsourced contentious material per policy) Why is there so much bullshit on this one new R&B/pop singer, who isn't even changing the way pop and R&B sound or function?! Why must people hate? Keipop 07:04, 8 September 2006 (UTC)keipop[reply]

Who the hell put the article in bullet form!?!? Admittedly, they sure re-worded it all nice... Oh, but they deleted everything about the original Me & U video. Le sigh...
(removed unsourced contentious material per policy) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mac Daddy (talkcontribs) 13:46, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The description of the original video is very false and seems like a cover-up. It was very, very suggestive (with the man carressing her head, which was (kneeling?) right below him) although there was one humorous part (where Cassie falls off the bed) the vid as a whole definately wasn't intended to be funny. (obviously, sexy was the goal - and it sure was : ) She also appeared in lingerie, posing on a bed a la Paris Hilton's sex tape. A blog entry on Cassie's myspace page addressed the video (calling it "that bad, bad video") and said its leaking was distressful to her. It's been deleted from most online media sites (like youtube.com) by now.
This article is terrible! Pathetic. "... as it turned out... wasn't the only one who loved it." Ridiculous. Far too casual. It needs some serious cleaning up, and the random boldface is distracting. I'd fix more, but I'm not entirely sober. : P

what I added

[edit]

I changed where it says African-American/Mexican mother to Afro-Mexican mother because the term Afro-Mexican is a simplier and more proper term for her mother's ancestry. Also she is not West Indian either. The West Indies are situated in the Southern part of the caribbean, your info is incorrect i would know.(e.g. Jamaica,Barbados,Grenada, St. Lucia) I also added that she's an OPM singer which she is because her ballads incorperate Philippine sounds and I think I should know being part-Filipino myself. Me & U

[edit]

About half of this article is about "Me & U". Perhaps the song should have its own article and all the details can be removed from here? -- eo 04:22, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, it seems "Me and U" should get it's own article. Otherwise this page is about Cassie and should reflect on her more, not just the one popular song she did. She's obviously very beautiful and has some talent so I'm sure the article will expand in the future.69.236.97.215 04:35, 26 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, for now, she's a one hit wonder. I know, I know - the song's still up on the charts at its new peak of #3 and all, but a followup success isn't due for another few weeks. Her song is also better known than she is herself - she even complained about it on her blog. It should really be an article for Me & U with a little blurb about the singer at the end. : P I'm half serious. I'll bet this is why Me & U redirects to Cassie's biography - they want to redirect all of the attention to the singer herself.

NPOV

[edit]

As much as I agree with the controversy...well, that's the problem, I could agree/disagree with it. Although I don't believe she's a fantastic singer, saying her voice is questionable or saying she's too sexual are OPINIONS, even though I agree with both, OPINIONS are OPINIONS and they are not a neutral point of view..so I unfortunately have to bomb the section with a NPOV warning. -Anom8trw8

Huh? Neutrality? Okay, I'll help out and remove some adjectives but the section must remain! Perhaps under a different title, or we could move it to the Me & U article. 67.85.178.227
The neutrality is still skewed, and the section is poorly written. (removed unsourced contentious material per policy) Without proper references, these are just easy punches at Cassie--a problem with neutrality.
I also have problems with the online petition issue. Has anyone read them? They are also poorly written and whoever wrote it doesn't seem to know anything about Cassie: "We all know she is a pretty girl, perhaps she would be more successful being a model, than she will be with her music career. Diddy what is your problem with signing this chick? If you don't want Bad Boy to fall off, we suggest you drop Cassie ASAP, and suggest that she audition for Top Model or something." Um, she was a successful model. How many "ethnic" people have you seen on an A&F bag?
And finally, I have a problem with the last paragraph: "Fans also complained about the seemingly preferential treatment Diddy was giving Cassie over her labelmates..." Why would Cassie's fans complain about Diddy's supposed preferential treatment? Fans of Danity Kane complained? And again, no evidence to prove any of this. Obviously I am a fan of Cassie, and I certainly don't want this page to become a Cassie fan page, but some of this article is just abominable for a Wikipedia entry. --keipop

sources

[edit]

(removed unsourced contentious material per policy) Diddy's Comments: Diddy told media sources this week: :"She had her first television performance, and she had an all right performance. You could hear the nervousness in her voice. And to be honest, I kind of smiled at it, because it made me really appreciate what I really love about her: She's a regular person. And we, as artists, we sometimes get nervous. I told her it's like riding a bike: You're gonna fall down, you got to keep on getting on it. I'm with her through her development, and I have no questioning on her ability, on her singing ability. It just made me appreciate that she got nervous, and it was kind of cute to me, to be honest.
:"It takes time when you're developing a new artist," he continued. "You can't be fickle. Some people are going to have good days and bad days. The thing about Bad Boy is, we're with our artists through all days. She's not an artist that has a problem with her vocals or singing. You've got to understand that success for her is coming out of nowhere. It's just so huge, and sometimes everybody handles it differently. So I'm quite sure she'll get over it. She's going to have to. That's part of being a recording artist, and sometimes it takes time. I don't care how many performances it is, I'm going to be with her until she gets it right." http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1538701/20060816/story.jhtml (removed unsourced contentious material per policy) Can someone add these sources to the page since I don't know how? Thanks! yeah its not nessesay to add rumors or things that internet bloggers comment on. just write somthing positive

Please review article info

[edit]

I know absolutely nothing about this person, but I came across this article when I was reviewing recent changes. I am pretty sure this woman was not born in Mexico, she has no bio information online (that I can find) that refers to this, but plenty that refers to her being born in New London, CT. I'm pretty sure this article has been vandalized, but maybe someone more familiar with the subject should take a bit of time to do an overview for accuracy on this point and others. Mutableye 00:08, 4 September 2006 (UTC) she was born in New London, Connecticut. LightSpeed 02:04, 4 September 2006 (UTC) info is getting better, nice bullet points and videos. but the danity kane/diddy point is still shakey even with the video, because that is "reality TV," which does not necessarily equal veracity and truth. Re: Controversy section

[edit]

The "Controversy" section was removed because it fails to meet the Wikipedia guidelines for Biographies of living persons. It shouldn't be re-added without the proper citations per WP:REF. I also just removed the "Back on the Internet" section as it doesn't meet the No original research guidelines, in that it contains personal opinions. —B33R Talk Contribs 15:17, 22 November 2006 (UTC) 24.45.55.115 01:21, 7 December 2006 (UTC)hi cassie my name is hakeem iam from brooklyn new york age 17 iam really attractive to both of your songs of long way 2 go and me and u. these are my favorite songs honestly the good things about both of your music videos is that i see that you are a excellent dancer. so what came to my mind is that you are a competent person that have the ability to do anything and thats good you should be proud of your self of the way you look because from my point of view. you look pretty but one thing i like about you is your smile so what iam trying to say here is that you are my favorite r n b female singer. OK, this page is under frequent attack from users by people adding fake information, inparticularly to the discography section. I suggest we lock/protect this page until there is actual news, or at least totally lock the discography section until Cassie announces the new single. Cassie Next Album Name, and More!

[edit]

I just went on her myspace and under her song "Is It You" it says 2000 Bad I'm guessing that's the name of her new album and I figured this because it can't be a label if u click on the song Is It You Snippet it'll say 2000 Bad under it for the album name search it cause I'm sure it's not a label so it has 2 be the name f her album but there's no other songs she has out and her next single would most likely be Is It You because like Ciara with "Get Up" it was all around the place as and I found out by updating on her sites thta it was a single from of "Step Up Soundtrack" and I knew it was from her new album "Ciara: The Evolution" because it was obvious and that means Cassie would probably make a video for this song and you can check her myspace [[1]] to show u her album name (removed unsourced contentious material per policy) and her album sold 3 million records not 2 million making it 3x platinum selling more than 3 million records worldwide and her songs "Goodies", "1, 2 Step", and "Oh" all went to #1 in fact here's the source you need 2 read [[2]] update or allow others to edit who know and have relevant sources and know what they're talkin about like me. BLP on talk pages

[edit]

There is no question, BLP-violating content should not be here. From WP:BLP (at the top, so you don't have to read very far):

"Unsourced or poorly sourced contentious material about living persons — whether the material is negative, positive, or just questionable — should be removed immediately and without waiting for discussion, from Wikipedia articles, talk pages, user pages, and project space." (emphasis added)

I hope this settles things for you, 70.108.103.64. —Hello, Control Hello, Tony 16:36, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

{{helpme|Does wp:blp say that discussion pages are to be sensored? Where specifically does it say so? I mean, simple things like soubrette is sensored! 70.108.103.64 (talk) 16:48, 1 April 2008 (UTC)}}[reply]

If it can't be sourced, it can't go in the article, so discussions on the talk page about unsourced materials should focus on finding a source. That of course means that we have to allow unsourced statements on talk pages, but within logical limits (i.e. "i heard X was going to be in this movie but can't find a source" is fine. "i heard X raped a girl" is not, unless it's clearly gotten press (and in such case, should be easy to find a source anyway)). --Golbez (talk) 17:27, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Looking at the article history, I think Hello Control has been way, way too overzealous in removing supposed negative content. BLP is a hard and fast rule on the article space; not so much on the talk space, because, again, how can we discuss it if we require sources for everything? --Golbez (talk) 17:30, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
BLP states: "Talk pages are used to make decisions about article contents. Unsourced or poorly sourced contentious material not related or useful to making article content choices should be deleted, and even oversighted if especially problematic (telephone number, libel, etc). New material should generally be discussed in order to arrive at a consensus concerning relevance, availability of sources, and reliability of sources. Repeated questionable claims with BLP issues not based on new evidence can generally be immediately deleted with a reference to where in the archive the prior consensus was reached."
It's really disrespectful, IMO, to completely gut statements because of a statement - negative or not (looking, a lot of the things redacted don't appear outwardly negative). Either delete it altogether, or leave it alone, but you're leaving sentence fragments that mean absolutely nothing. I suggest you take the matter to ANI or RFC if you want to continue redacting other people's comments, as you are edit-warring, and either you are violating 3RR, or the IP is, and either way this needs wider attention than this back-and-forth. --Golbez (talk) 17:33, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Whoa! I am not the person who originally removed the content and I even re-did it—leaving in more content that was previously removed (and I "signed" unsigned comments so the diffs could be found). See this diff to compare the original edited version and mine. —Hello, Control Hello, Tony 17:38, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Edit warring

[edit]

OK, I'm very sorry to have gotten caught up in that. Here's the chain of events:

  • Dec 13 2007: 1 2 Mdsummermsw redacts content on this talk page per WP:BLP
  • Mar 30 2008: 3 70.108.82.109 reverts to the version preceeding Mdsummermsw's edits
  • Following Kww's lead, I helped revert; the IP was blocked for 3RR, hopped IPs and things escalated from there.

It's funny how one can get dragged into these things without meaning to be. Anyhow, I feel that the original BLP concerns were a bit overstated, and even though I produced a version with less redaction (and "signed" unsigned comments so they could easily be found in the edit history), Golbez feels my version still went too far. So what does the community at large think? I will be happy to go with the consensus here. Again, my apologies to all concerned. —Hello, Control Hello, Tony 18:59, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Her height

[edit]

I searched the page history to find the edit which added her height. It was cited to the "Internet Fashion Database" which seems to have gone offline. I found it archived here:

Observe the "Contribute" box in the upper right on that page ("add model", "add person", etc.). This is/was a crowdsourced site, not a WP:reliable source, so I am removing her height. As she is now primarily known as a singer rather than a model, her height is not that important a personal detail to include here. Wbm1058 (talk) 12:45, 5 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Cassie VenturaCassie (entertainer) – "Cassie Ventura" is not her common name, she is known mononymously. See here at Billboard, E!, People, Entertainment Tonight, The Sun... Her album, mixtape, and thirteen singles were all released under the name "Cassie". 162 etc. (talk) 16:08, 24 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

BIO Info--"Partner"

[edit]

Sean Combs listed as a "partner" in the bio section should be removed. Cassie Ventura has revealed to be a victim of rape, violence, abuse and sex trafficking at the hands of Sean Combs. These are her words in a lawsuit filed against Comb's and Bad Boy Records Complaint-ventura-v-Combs. Just because the popular media identified them as in some sort of consensual relationship or "partnership" does not mean the popular media did not get it wrong, nor does it mean they knew she was actually a victim. To remove the label of her as a "Partner" to Sean Combs, based on what Cassie Ventura has recently brought to light, is not a denial of history but a realization of what the history actually was, and it was NOT a partnership. To that end, there is no documentation of any real partnership, but perhaps the misclassification of her situation by popular media. Through her own lawsuit, she has labeled herself "trapped by Mr. Combs in a cycle of abuse, violence, and sex trafficking" Complaint-ventura-v-Combs Let's not insult the victim by claiming she was a partner to Sean Combs. --Ducky008 (talk) 15:50, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
