Isnt it more accurate to say that "God made the whole numbers...", and not the integers? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.16.199.186 (talk) 21:36, 6 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The expression "whole numbers" is a translation of the latin term "integer", meaning untouched, which is the formal and most accurate way of denoting the natural numbers and their negatives. 5.254.138.27 (talk) 11:13, 15 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

As a matter of fact, it should be "God created the primes" as the integers follow out of them. Chrisdecorte (talk) 18:46, 21 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Principle plura

[edit]

In the introduction to God Created the Integers, Hawking uses the expression principle plura when he refers to the importance of mathematical rigour as recognized by the Greeks. I have no clue what that expression may mean. A Google web search wasn't helpful. What does it mean? Where does it come from? --217.226.65.111 (talk) 11:31, 17 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
