No mention of the DC10 that was shot down? that is in my opinion relevant to this article.

I made a rewrite and expansion of events from 1970 onwards, will bring in some sources later (the article is sadly unsourced, though it's been written by Swedes of course - me too). The browser window briefly went down at one point and the edits got signed with my IP number: 83.49.213.193) A separate article on the submarine hunts of the 1980s and their repercussions is coming, edited and shortened from the Swedish Wikipedia, from other sources and from my own reading and memory of that time; this is a chain of events that continues to shape discussion about Sweden vs Russia and Sweden's defense/security policy. Swedish Wikipedia has a featured article, sv:Svensk utrikes- och säkerhetspolitik under kalla kriget ("Sweden's foreign and security policy during the cold war") that may be of interest. Thuresson 22:40, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ambassador recalled

[edit]

It was in fact ambassador William Womack Heath who was recalled by president Lyndon B. Johnson in February 1968 as a reation against Olof Palme demonstrating against the Vietnam War side by side with North Vietnamese ambassador to the Soviet Union. This event took place more than four years before the famous "Christmas Speech", were Palme famously indicted the American shock bombings of Hanoi. --Astor Piazzolla 11:53, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

NATO submarines

[edit]

That part is totaly unproven and regarded mainly as a conspiracy theory. It should not be presented this way as a fact. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.73.30.2 (talk) 13:58, 13 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

POV and General Lack of Structure

[edit]

This is one of the worst Wikipedia articles I've ever seen. It is nothing but a collection f random thoughts about various pieces of post-war Swedish history with no context or measurement of the relative importance of this or that.

More alarmingly, it has a committed rightward POV. Very disappointing. TheCormac (talk) 13:58, 4 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.82.107.106 (talk) 17:37, 14 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I second that opinion. 76.88.1.215 (talk) 17:16, 8 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Palme quote

[edit]

I believe "värna" is better translated as "defend" or "protect" and intend to switch for the latter — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.82.107.106 (talk) 17:38, 14 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
