Is Eric Young's reign official?

[edit]

The TNA X Division Championship was vacated last night following Young's win over Bashir. The title history here doesn't list Young, but is there any indication that his reign isn't being recognized? Jeff Silvers (talk) 15:20, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure. His Wikipedia profile lists him as a former X-Division Champion, but yet his reign isn't mentioned on the list of X-Division Champions so somebody needs to fix it to where it's coherent. AugustWinterman 3:02, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

Question

[edit]

So if Suicide wins tonight at Destination X, does that count as Suicide's first reign, or Daniels' fourth?

It should count as a fourth reign for Christopher Daniels, I think. Jeff Silvers (talk) 14:25, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It depends on who is playing the character in the match.--WillC 16:36, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It will not be recognised as a Daniels reign, however he did portray the gimmick : [1] —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.155.44.243 (talk) 17:30, 17 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Not a reliable source.--WillC---(What the F*** have you done lately???!!) 21:39, 17 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Kaz is the main guy behind the mask, but Daniels was portraying Suicide at Destination X so back to the question, Who Does The Title Reign Count For? Leather Heather (talk) 02:19, 22 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

We need a reliable source who was behind the mask Sunday.--WillC---Joe's gonna kill you!!!) 02:25, 22 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Copyedits

[edit]

Will, I've made a number of small edits to grammar, style etc to improve the language. If you don't like any of them, can we discuss them here point by point, rather than just reverting them en masse? thanks. --hippo43 (talk) 03:35, 15 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

My edit

[edit]
  • The TNA X Division Championship is a professional wrestling championship owned by the Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) promotion.
    • Some championships are used in promotions they do not actually own. So, the owned by TNA is needed.
  • It is primarily contested for in TNA's X Division.
    • Some championships suggest they have a division but do not actually have one, such as the WWE Hardcore Championship. So this helps, also the title has been defended in the heavyweight and tag team divisions.
  • The title was created and debuted on June 19, 2002 at the taping of TNA's second weekly pay-per-view (PPV) event.
    • To give the exact date and not be so vague.
  • Title reigns are determined either by professional wrestling matches between wrestlers involved in pre-existing scripted feuds and storylines, or by scripted circumstances. Wrestlers are portrayed as either villains or heroes as they follow a series of tension-building events, which culminate in a wrestling match or series of matches for the championship. Title changes that happen on episodes of TNA's primary television program, TNA Impact!, air on television two to nine days from the date the match was taped. Changes that happened on weekly PPV events aired either during a live broadcast or aired on taped delay up to seven days apart.
    • Needed to explain the championship is not won legitimately. Plus to tell the reason the shows dates do not add up with the date won.
  • The inaugural champion was A.J. Styles, who defeated Low Ki (Brandon Silvestry), Jerry Lynn, and Psicosis (Dionicio Castellanos) in a Four Way Double Elimination match on June 19, 2002 at the taping of TNA's second weekly PPV event, which aired on June 26, 2002. Styles holds the record for most reigns, with six. At 182 days, Christopher Daniels' (Daniel Covell) first reign is the longest in the title's history. At less than one day, Eric Young's only reign is the shortest in the title's history. As of June 2009, Suicide is the current champion in his first reign. Overall, there have been 38 reigns shared between 19 wrestlers.
    • Simple statistics, I do not believe that is a problem. Names are to show the wrestlers were playing characters. Ones without their names next to them, is per common name. They are known enough under their ring name to not need their real name.
  • I changed some templates per other FLS I've done where the experienced reviewers have told me that is the best way to have the table. Added more reliable sources for events. Everything should be fine. Since the table is a quick check table, all things needing links should be linked.

Lazy updates?

[edit]

Is it just me or has anyone noticed how lazy some the reigns are edited? Like Johnny Devine winning the X Division title is not noted as being a Street Fight, and Suicide has absolutely no notes on his match? He won it in Ultimate X. As well as Joe's third reign, it's not noted he won it in a triple threat with Sabin and Lethal BBoy (talk) 18:16, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Because it has been agreed that those notes are not notable. They did not effect the history of the title anymore than a normal singles match does.--WillC 00:08, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Then why isn't any other title history page set like this? This page seems to be the only one that follows that reasonBBoy (talk) 05:12, 21 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Because edit wars happen on the others more often than here with one user saying they are and other users don't want to deal with the drama. See Talk:List of World Heavyweight Champions (WWE).--WillC 06:30, 21 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Confused about Suicide...

[edit]

Just kind of curious here. Shouldn't Suicide's reign be listed as a reign for Kazarian and a reign for Daniels? Suicide may be a character, but it was still Kaz for a while, and then Daniels. Just because it was a character doesn't mean they shouldn't be recognized as the champion. Kazarian and Daniels each held that championship as Suicide. Edge and Christian won the World Tag Team Championships as Los Conquistadores, but the title reign is attributed to Edge and Christian. I don't get how Edge and Christian can portray characters and have titles attributed to them, but Kaz and Daniels can't. Can someone please explain this to me? And I mean an actual explanation, not some crap excuse a lot of people give on here. L2K (talk) 04:20, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well first Suicide was never unmasked, so the reign wasn't attributed to Daniels or Kaz. The reign technically belongs to Suicide rather than the wrestlers. A note could be added to mention this though.--WillC 04:48, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I still don't get it, though. Just because they wrestled under a mask, why shouldn't they be credited with the title reign? They were still the ones wrestling, they were the ones defending the title. L2K (talk) 03:22, 10 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
In Sacrifice, Mike Tenay refered Kaz as a 4 times X Division champion, no 5 times.--HHH Pedrigree (talk) 14:34, 16 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Did you expect him to admit that Kaz was Suicide? Like L2K said, he held the belt and defended it, it doesn't matter whether TNA admits that it was him or not. If, for example, Curry Man won the title tomorrow, I don't think anyone would even think of listing him separate from Daniels, but TNA still wouldn't admit that they're the same guy.TheFBH (talk) 16:22, 16 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I think that is diferent, becuse Daniels was the only man who portrayed the character of Curryman, like Gregory Helms, who won the Cruiserweight title as Shane Helms, Gregory Helms and Hurricane, but suicide was portrayed by several men, (Kaz, Kiyoshi, Daniels).--HHH Pedrigree (talk) 17:19, 16 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The Title is vacant

[edit]

Austin Aries isn't the current champion or "in his current reign". He vacated the belt. 41.132.116.62 (talk) 17:43, 2 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

He said he would hold the belt until Destination X and vacate it there. TNA still lists him as the champ on their roster page.TheFBH (talk) 18:01, 2 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
To close the deal on Aries and whether or no the title is vacat--It's TNA's belt, and if they still list Aries as the champion, then that's what we have to go by. Basically, it's their title, thus their word is law. Vjmlhds 03:23, 6 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Kash 2 times champion?

[edit]

In Impact Wrestling, Kid Kash says that he is a two time former X Division champion. He said it last IW once and he said it again when Hogan choose Austin Aries to fight with RVD. Is Kash a two time champion o is a TNA invention? --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 18:26, 7 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sabin

[edit]

Acording TNA Wrestling.com, Sabin is the champ since July 4. I don't read spoilers, so I don't know if he held the title until next week show or until Destination X. i say this because is a similar case with Aries. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 14:23, 5 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Willie Mack /Rebellion date

[edit]

Hi. There is any source for the date when Willie Mack won the title? Rebellion is a pre-taped event, right? Si April 21 isn't the correct date. I have readed bewteen april 8 and 10. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 16:51, 22 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The WrestleMania events all say XX or YY, so if we have a source that says when the event was taped, then I see no reason why this wouldn't be the same. - Galatz גאליץשיחה Talk 18:22, 22 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Galatz: I know. However, the Date colum says April 21, which is not the day when the title change happened. The PPV article says matches were taped between April 8 and 10, but the source [2] doesn't mention April 8-10. So, I don't know when the matches were taped --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 18:50, 22 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Then I think we need two references for that line. One that confirms the taping and one that confirms the results. Both to reference different pieces of information. - Galatz גאליץשיחה Talk 20:30, 22 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. Two sources. Right now, i would delete the April 8 date, we haven't source for that. I think this should be discussed in the project. Looks like unknown dates are gonna be the usual for a few months. Fightful reported several Money in the Bank matches were taped on April 17 [3] [4] --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 21:20, 22 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
