Station names

[edit]

Why are all the articles called "xxx railway station, Perth" and not "xxx railway station"? The disambiguator is not necessary unless there is some confusion with a railway staion of the same name in some other place. I moved a few before realising there's lots of misnamed articles. —Moondyne 08:15, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've noticed that's been done with Melbourne and other cities as well. It seems to be if they're part of a metro rail network they're called ", Perth" and if not, ", Western Australia". Not sure why it's been done that way though. Orderinchaos78 11:51, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 9 December 2021

[edit]
The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: moved, conditional on the creation of the Transwa list. List of railway stations in Perth will be retained as a redirect for now, but should become a disambig/SIA after the second list is created. List of railway stations in PerthList of Transperth railway stations – This article is about Transperth railway stations, not railway stations in Perth, as evidenced by the inclusion of Mandurah railway station (in Mandurah, not Perth), and the exclusion of stations such as Byford railway station, Mundijong railway station, Serpentine railway station and North Dandalup railway station (in Perth, but not Transperth stations).

Within Australia, there is no convention as to which name should be used. Examples of both exist, such as List of Sydney Trains railway stations, List of railway stations in Melbourne.

Removing Mandurah station and adding Byford, Mundijong, Serpentine and North Dandalup would not be a natural solution to this problem. It would result in the Perth list being mostly Transperth stations, with a few Transwa stations, and Mandurah station being the only Transperth station not on the list. What should be done instead is the move I am proposing, and the creation of List of Transwa railway stations. This would be a more natural division, and also result in stations such as Armadale railway station, Perth, East Perth railway station, Midland railway station, Perth and Perth railway station being included in both lists, allowing them to be grouped with the other Transwa stations. Post close comment: I will get on with creating List of Transwa railway stations later today. Steelkamp (talk) 11:28, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Article never defines what the heritage lines are

[edit]

In the article, “heritage lines” are mentioned but never defined. Please define them for someone unfamiliar with the Transperth rail network. @Steelkamp. Fork99 (talk) 00:01, 19 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Done, thanks for telling me. The reason it was like that is because I copied that paragraph from railways in Perth without including the explanation of the heritage lines earlier in that page. Steelkamp (talk) 03:38, 19 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
