Restructure of article

[edit]

I've restructured the article into three categories, and with the help of Deckiller and the Clawed One, rewritten all current characters. However, this is still not a complete list. Characters, mainly from the authorised add-ons and the novels, still need to be included. A number of characters in the previous version of this article have not been included, but should be at some point. However, there are a couple of points regarding this:

  • Don't include characters who do not have any substantial information available to them. Colonel Hauler, Gui Montag and Morik are little more than names and aren't worth the space. Silendas is currently a name to which no information is available, so until a respectable amount of information is available she should remain a simple note in Artanis' section.
  • Keep it in an out-of-universe persective and keep sections short. Long sections of prose simply aren't necessary for these characters. Try to keep it below three paragraphs. For obvious reasons, we don't want it written in an in-universe style.
  • Please don't put in character infoboxes. They make the presentation of the article look rather bad, especially on widescreen monitors, and they aren't really needed and take up unnecessary file space.

In regards to notability, I believe this article should be treated as an extension of Characters of StarCraft. The only reason it is not included there is due to size constraints. From WP:NOTINHERITED: "Often, sub-articles are created for formatting and display purposes, however - this does not imply an "inherited notability" per se, but is often accepted in the context of ease of formatting and navigation." From WP:FICTION: "the sub-article should be viewed as an extension of the parent article, and judged as if it were still a section of that article [but] editors should still strive to provide real-world content."

For the convienence of dealing with the redone article, I've archived the previous discussion.

Just something worth of note, Chris Metzen has stated in a recent interview conducted by Starcraft Legacy that the canonical storyline for Enslavers: Dark Vengeance, is that the Protoss chose to reclaim the Khaydarin crystal, and later faced off against Ulrezaj's minions as well as Alan Schezar and his militia, with the Protoss destroying the EMP device and killing Schezar.

The Enslavers series were not authorized add-ons developed by third parties (as are Insurrection and Retribution), but rather bonus campaigns created by Blizzard employees themselves. The fact that Ulrezaj was included in a novel series written by Christie Golden who worked closely with Metzen himself and got a lot of lore input from him, thus implying that the Enslavers series, while not significant but canonical regardless, I would suggest moving Mojo, Schezar and Ulrezaj to the first section.
