Albanian forms of Vučitrn
[edit]Though Vuçitërn is the Albanian form of Vučitrn, and "sanxhaku i Vuçitërnit" for Sanjak of Vučitrn, today's Albanian form for Vučitrn is Vushtria. This note provided to help avoid confusion. See Duka, Ferit. Shekujt osmanë në hapësirën shqiptare. Tirana: UET Press, 2009. p. 44.--Rereward (talk) 13:39, 24 September 2012 (UTC)

Vlk
[edit]According to lede, the Turkish name of the sanjak was Vilayet'i Vlk . Ottoman Turkish used Arabic alphabet. Thus Vilayet'i Vlk must be the romanization of the name. But in Turkish (modern or Ottoman) it is impossible to pronounce a three consonant-word. Does the reference give a hint how the name is pronounced ? Nedim Ardoğa (talk) 08:09, 25 September 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Nedim Ardoğa. It is a pleasure to see you around. There are numerous sources for this Vlk assertion. One of them is Oliver Schmitt link, who explained this in one of his works (I planned to add his explanation in some article about Ottoman administrative units but I could not decide what article). Schmitt explained that until the end of 15th century Ottomans named their administrative units against feudal lords who controlled its territory before Ottomans captured it. In case of this unit it is Vuk Branković. Vuk is transformed into Vlk. The name is later probably changed to Vučitrn and since 18th century in Priština, but I need to investigate this further.--Antidiskriminator (talk) 08:29, 25 September 2012 (UTC)
Name
[edit]After two moves (1: from Sanjak of Vučitrn to Sanjak of Vuçitërn; 2: from Sanjak of Vučitrn to Sanjak of Vulçitrin) by User:Irvi Hyka, who continues on his moving spree of Ottoman sanjaks contrary to naming conventions and consensus, here is the Gbooks-results:
- Sanjak of Vučitrn - 2 hits
- Vučitrn sanjak - 3 hits
- Sanjak of Vuçitërn - 0 hits
- Vuçitërn sanjak - 0 hits
- Sanjak of Vulçitrin - 0 hits
- Vulçitrin sanjak - 0 hits
Thus, the article name should stay at Sanjak of Vučitrn.--Zoupan 12:41, 11 February 2013 (UTC)
- I agree. If User:Irvi Hyka insist on renaming he should start RM procedure.--Antidiskriminator (talk) 01:34, 18 February 2013 (UTC)
