Purpose
The {{Moved discussion to}} and {{Moved discussion from}} tags are related to {{Resolved}}, but are meant to be placed at the top of sections on talk pages and other discussions, to indicate when a discussion has been moved elsewhere. It serves as a reminder for editors not to add any more to the discussion, except at its new location, unless strictly necessary.
Usage
Place the following under the topic heading on a talk page:

Moved from Talk:ArchiveThe first parameter is the location from which the discussion has been moved. Usually this is the full page name of the old location and should also include the anchor name of the topic as well, if it isn't identical in both places, in the form Namespace:Pagename#Topic. If it exists, the page name will be auto linked. To use a section of the companion template's own documentation page as an example: {{Moved discussion from|Template:Moved discussion to/doc#Example}}:
Moved from Template:Moved discussion to/doc § ExampleLinking it manually also works, and is used for linking to an anchor on the same page, as in {{Moved discussion from|[[#Example]]}}:
Moved from #ExampleThe optional second parameter, |2= (AKA |reason=, |signature=, |sig=), is an additional comment explaining why the discussion was moved, and/or to sign so that others know who marked the thread as resolved. It is especially optional if a comment retained below the heading makes it clear who did the move and why. If used, it should fit on one line, and the explicit |2= or |reason= parameter name is necessary if there are any "=" characters in the message, for example if your raw signature contains the character, which is quite common. Example:

The optional parameter |back=y will replace the wording "Moved from" with "Moved back from".
Moved from Talk:ArticleThe corresponding {{Moved discussion to|Talk:Article|2=Optional message. ~~~~}} would be placed under the topic heading of the discussion after it is pasted into its new location, usually with the same or a similar message, so that the reasons for the move are clear on both ends.
If the target page is automatically archived and discussion is substantially old, the third parameter may be used to note the date of latest comment in discussion. The contents of this parameter will not be displayed, but it will be the date that archiving bot will parse when determining the age of discussion.
