Template:Request edit → Template:Edit COI – This template gets (mis)used fairly regularly, as indicated by edits such as Special:Diff/1162140876, and there have been previous (1, 2) discussions on this talk page that never went anywhere about the matter. Basically, "request edit" makes the request sound like "I can't do this myself and need help", while it actually is saying "I have a COI so I shouldn't edit the article and need help". These two things are, largely, different kettles of fish, and the name should reflect usage. There are a lot of redirects here and I just picked the one that seemed easiest to remember. - I would support any clarification of the name. However, my personal preference would be {{edit COI}} for naming consistency with those listed at Template:Request edit#See also. —CX Zoom[he/him] (let's talk • {C•X}) 09:47, 27 June 2023 (UTC)

- Support The {{request edit}} template, like the mythical Sirens of Greek lore, has long lured unsuspecting editors to invoke its use over the past few years, in the mistaken belief that it was needed to handle their simple, non-COI edit requests. Changing it will put those sirens to bed. Spintendo 07:00, 29 June 2023 (UTC)
- Support In addition to reducing confusion, this would also be consistent with the other templates (e.g., {{edit template-protected}} and {{edit semi-protected}}); per Help:Template:
If similar templates exist, try to follow a consistent naming pattern.
To maintain consistency, there should also be a shortcut called {{CPER}}. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Voorts (talk • contribs) 18:28, 4 July 2023 (UTC) - Support - Not sure of any down-the-line issues, but this move would help define between other request templates. - FlightTime (open channel) 18:59, 4 July 2023 (UTC)

Proposed fix: Change 'New section' to 'Add topic'
[edit]User is instructed that to use the template they must "Go to the article's Talk page and click the New section
tab" but such a tab does not seem to exist. I assume the user is meant to click the Add topic
tab.
This should also be changed under the 'In further detail' subsection.

- The new Vector theme appears to have a different wording; older themes use "New section". I'll start a WP:VPT thread about potentially getting this sorted on a broader scale. Primefac (talk) 11:29, 15 November 2023 (UTC)
