Template-protected edit request on October 1 2021

[edit]

I would like to request the the seemingly random {{{info}}} code be removed from the top of the page. It appears like it's not meant to be there or something's not showing up right. If it's supposed to be there let me know. ― Blaze The WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 15:33, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: It's not random. It's showing you what an empty version of the template looks like. It could be better, I suppose. Feel free to modify the sandbox to propose a change. – Jonesey95 (talk) 16:37, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ah ok. Looks a bit odd but alright. I think it's mainly because it doesn't actually look like a userbox. ― Blaze The WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 13:49, 4 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Categorising user pages in Category:Userboxes with insufficient color contrast

[edit]

@GKFX: is it because of your recent edits that user pages are showing up in Category:Userboxes with insufficient color contrast (24,161)? I.e. the category is being transcluded from the templates to the user pages. – Fayenatic London 21:50, 31 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Userspace categories are still being added in Template space

[edit]

I noticed in doing some maintenance that {{User Soaring Sky! Pretty Cure}} is being inappropriately added to Category:Wikipedians who like Pretty Cure by the |usercategory=Wikipedians who like Pretty Cure code in the userbox. I believe that this should not be happening. Templates should live in template categories, and User pages that transclude the userboxes should be assigned the User categories. It looks like this discussion from 2014 tried to address the issue but went nowhere.

The problem can be worked around using includeonly tags, but the template should just do the right thing. If I knew Lua, I would try to fix it, but I do not. If the Lua code could somehow provide the equivalent of includeonly tags, that might do the trick. – Jonesey95 (talk) 06:17, 22 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't help that many userboxes are already in the template namespace. Inexperienced editors often look at source-code for existing pages (as a guideline when creating their own pages) and don't rarely read the entire help page. I added a cautionary message to WP:CREATEUBX just now. I don't know if it will help. Emdosis (talk) 22:22, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

broken spacing? (January 2024)

[edit]
Resolved

Template:Userboxtop and Template:Userboxgroup seem to be broken, adding a lot of extra space, as of January 2024. See how it looks on the right-hand side [here.

Was there a recent formatting change? Maybe related to this merge discussion? Caleb Stanford (talk) 00:19, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

That linked page looks fine to me. Maybe post a screen shot? – Jonesey95 (talk) 00:28, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It looks like the editor did a temp fix, which is probably why it looks ok now.
I think the issue is due to an internally used template being marked for TfD. Once that discussion is over, that notification template should be removed, and everything should be fine again. - jc37 01:07, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oops, fixed the link. Also, here's a direct demonstration on the RHS in this talk section.
@Jc37: OK, thanks for the input. Caleb Stanford (talk) 01:29, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the demonstration. It looks like this problem has been resolved by the closing of the TFD. – Jonesey95 (talk) 14:53, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
