Greetings, my name is Day000Walker. I joined Wikipedia on October 14th, 2008.
Today is

The main reason I decided to register with Wikipedia was so I could correct minor errors in articles; however, I soon moved on from fixing mistakes to become more involved with discussions, policy, improving content, etc.

I help deal with sockpuppets and trolls, vandals, and other disruptive users. On a nicer note, I give help to users whenever I can, and if my Wikipedia skills don't cover what a user needs, I will always check the Wikipedia help pages or ask an someone who I know has the knowledge of something I'm not totally familiar with.

Another thing: this user page does get vandalized. Thank you to all the kind users who have reverted the vandalism.

Spelling!

[edit]
enANYThis user is pro-choice for different types of English and is against the Americanization of Wikipedia.

On the whole if it's a British topic, I think that it's only right and proper that we use British English, but I would always respect U.S. topics by using U.S. English there. This is in-keeping with current guidelines. I hope that other contributors will also respect the guidelines and refrain from "fixing" the variant of English without having a valid reason for doing so.

How to create reusable boilerplates

Pages intended to be reused as portions of other pages are called templates. The names of template pages start with the prefix Template:. A template can be included on another page using the syntax {{Page name}} (including the curly brackets), but leave out the Template: prefix between the curly brackets!

On Wikipedia, templates are created to serve a variety of purposes, such as navigation boxes (e.g. Template:Europe topic), infoboxes (e.g. Template:Infobox person), and notices (e.g. Template:Controversial).

If you wish to make a personal boilerplate (such as a personalized welcome message, or the like), you make it in your own userspace. Simply create the page as a subpage of your userspace (in the format User:Foo/something). To put it onto a page, use the curly brackets as usual, but remember to use the syntax {{User:Foo/something}} rather than {{something}}. This is because the curly-bracket syntax automatically looks in the Template namespace, so if you want to use one from your own userspace, you need to tell it to look there.
