Watchlist
[edit]Hi WikiTownsvillian, I was wondering if there is any way I can "group-watch" the WikiProject Townsville for edits? It seems almost impossible to track recent changes at the community recent changes area as there are simply far too many edits per second. Now, I know that I can select each topic individually and add it to my watchlist, but I was hoping there was an easier way. Thanks! Niël 23:41, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry Nielg, I really don't know, I will ask an admin on your behalf. Cheers, WikiTownsvillian 11:09, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot! I'll keep that link - it'll be soooo much easier than trying to dig it out of the "recent changes" area! Niël 11:20, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

I did not contribute to this at all. May you show me what was written? Should i change my password if someone has gone on my account and changed it? Sincerly, Jake
- Good morning, the list of edit contributions on Wikipedia by people of the same IP address as yourself is available here, since you did not make the edit you are probably using an IP address which is shared by multiple people and someone else made the edit. If someone edits wikipedia without creating an account or logging in it is recorded as being edited by the IP address, I hope this helps clarify things. [edit]When did I do this: " Please stop. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did to Townsville Grammar School, you will be blocked from editing. WikiTownsvillian 09:53, 1 October 2007 (UTC)?" — Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.216.227.208 (talk)
- In response to your note; this is the list of edits made by your IP address, all of which is vandalism of wikipedia, if this is a shared IP address I'd suggest signing up for an account (very easy to do) and that way you won't get messages which regard vandalism by other people using the same IP address as you. Additionally this IP address is in danger of being blocked if it continues to vandalise wikipedia so if you know who it is it would be a good idea for you to tell them to knock it off. Image copyright problem with Image:Space_Net_on_The_Strand,_Townsville.JPG
[edit]Thank you for uploading Image:Space_Net_on_The_Strand,_Townsville.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Jusjih (talk) 00:35, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
Howdy, I noticed you added a hangon tag to the Thuringowa State High School article. I removed the speedy request and your tag since no criteria for speedy deletion applied. You are, of course, welcome to simply remove the speedy deletion tag yourself (provided you did not create the article) per WP:CSD, but you can also put a hangon if you wish. Thanks and keep up the great work1 --TeaDrinker (talk) 08:38, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
Your comments
[edit]If I was flagging them because of objections with the poor editorial practices of TCR, then i'd be bored. These articles are just reviewed every couple of months to reduce the cruft and get rid of what can only be described as an extension of *cruft. As for the admins, most of them I know have just given up trying with the user in question because the message isn't getting across. Waiting another three months isn't going to change things, because the user is more likely than not to move on to other articles and *cruft them up. He's had every chance available to reform, and he's at the stage where he is teetering dangerously on the edge of some procedural action. Thewinchester (talk) 05:46, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
- What ever, and what admins...i can't think of any that have had a ongoing issue with me...what ever it is that you are on, you should think about giving it up as it has made you retarded. Thuringowacityrep (talk) 10:53, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
- Winchester (is that how I should address you?), just because one user may make additions to an article which you disagree with does not make the subject matter non-notable and deleting articles on notable subjects is not a way of dealing with it. I can't say that the way the images have been plonked in to some of the articles upsetting the photo placement balances is in any way appealing... I trust you will upright them and move them in to more balanced places? :-) Timeshift (talk) 15:41, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
- hey, looked fine on my screen, but I'd be happy for them to be moved, perhaps it is my screen? it is an odd shape. also what is the difference between right and upright? Cheers, WikiTownsvillian 23:48, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
- I'm talking about image placement. Like for example, some PM pages have images staggered right to left to right etc, and the bust image has just been added slapdash somewhere... just general placement issues. But don't take that as any form of criticism, the images are an excellent contribution. right and upright are different... use thumb for horizontal photos and thumb|upright for vertical photos, upright reduces the thumbed size of the image slightly to compensate. left and right is simply alignment. I'll make a couple of changes. Timeshift (talk) 00:23, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

aw schucks my first Barnstar, thanks timeshift. As for Forde, either I missed him or there is no bust of him, I have looked at a couple of documents on the internet and there is no reference to who the sculptor who did the Forde bust so maybe there is non because he was only in office for a week... Forde
[edit]Hi, WT. I’m going purely by their website, which says "Each of the 25 Prime Ministers of Australia are displayed as bronze portraits mounted on polished granite pedestals". It clearly hasn’t been updated for Rudd (it has an opening date 1996 for Howard but no closing date), and Howard was the 25th PM, so I conclude that Forde is there. I have visited the place, but it was about 4 years ago and I didn’t take photos. I don’t particularly remember Forde being there, but it didn’t hit me as a glaring omission either. Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful. Cheers -- JackofOz (talk) 05:03, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
- Each of Australia's Prime Ministers is depicted regardless of the length of time spent in office.[1] Timeshift (talk) 05:14, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
- no fair enough, I'm not discounting that I just missed him, however I was pretty sure at the time that I got all of them :( and they all seem to be accounted for except Forde when the websites are talking about who made each individual bust WikiTownsvillian 08:44, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

I'm lost myself as to what the issue is here. Timeshift (talk) 10:17, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
- This refers to the image that was originally uploaded by myself to an incorrectly spelt title. I'm not sure why the copyright status of the original image was challenged, but it doesn't really matter as the image at the correctly titled address is still fine. Either way at worst I can just re-upload the picture with the copyleft tags as per norm. Cheers, WikiTownsvillian 12:36, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Townsville-Burdekin School District, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. BJBot (talk) 00:59, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
- My apologies for not sending you the PROD message. Realistically, yes renaming it would partially satisfy me. Id like to see it deleted, but having the article in its correct name would be a nice touch. Thanks for the note. Twenty Years 15:35, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
les tyrell
[edit]Hi maybe you can do the les Tyrell page again as it seems if I start a page it's crap and needs to be deleted. Well hope you will make this page again as seeing how it was deleted because 1: the city of Thuringowa is coming to a end, (SO... Les will still be here and who knows he may even be the mayor of the new Townsville.) and 2: I used the info off the Thuringowa website and re-wrote it so that it wasn't a copy issue. Would have been nice for your input, but never mind. Lets just hope that you can do the page now like you where going to before I did it and it get to stay this time. Thanks Thuringowacityrep (talk) 12:37, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

- BTW should we move the City of Townsville to City of Townsville (former) and create a new article for the new one? Hi WikiTownsvillian. Interesting times in North Queensland at the moment... As an aside, the name of this catgeory needs to be addressed at some time and it is likely to meet with some opposition. Your thoughts? -- Mattinbgn\talk 11:24, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Matt, thanks for your concern but TCR does recognise that these pages need to be updated to reflect the present and not the past, I don't think it will be controversial to change this (and many many) pages to reflect the name change. Cheers, WikiTownsvillian 11:33, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
your thoughts please
[edit]What are you thoughts about this .....seeing how all of Thuringowa's suburbs are now Townsville's, i was thinking of having the page Former Suburbs of Thuringowa City after being moved to or changed to Former Suburbs of Thuringowa, and then in the pages about the suburbs instead of just going in and changing ...eg "Rasmussen is a suburb in the city of Thuringowa to in hte city of Townsville, i was thinking something like Rasmussen is a former suburb of Thuringowa, however it is now a Townsville suburb due to the merge of the two cities"....this is just a bit of an idea but i would really like you input on how this should be worded...i don't want it like this forever, maybe just 6 mths or so and then it can be changed to just say a suburb of Townsville, and at the bottom of the page could be a link to the former Thuringowa city page where the history part will explain everything. thanks Thuringowacityrep (talk) 00:10, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Sorry i thought that the Electoral district of Thuringowa did end with the ending of Thuringowa city and that is way it was removed from the Thuringowa page.....guess i am wrong ...sorry Thuringowacityrep (talk) 11:56, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
- Hi TCR, the local government reform has nothing to do with State electoral districts, all State electoral districts are not affected and have the same names and boarders as they had before. Cheers, WikiTownsvillian 12:00, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
- Ok Thanks i guess that is another way the Thuringowa name can live on. Thanks again and sorry if i do edit something wrong, plus i added 2 refs about to the area about Townsville being the capital just to keep everybody happy...hope that is ok.Thuringowacityrep (talk) 12:04, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
- no worries, I think it is a very obvious self-evident fact, your references will probably help, good work. Cheers, WikiTownsvillian 12:06, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
- yeah i see your point, but it just seems a little misleading as it reads like he still is the Mayor......tricky one this, if you want to have a go at rewording so it doesn't sound like is still is the mayor, go for it but if not i can think about it over night and see if i can find a way that we are both happy with. Thuringowacityrep (talk) 12:29, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah the state and federal electorates keep the same names unlesss ECQ / AEC decide to change them. To take one example, the City of Gympie was absorbed in an earlier reform into the Shire of Cooloola, but the relevant state district was, and still is, called Gympie. It's now known as the Gympie Regional Council after this reform (strange fact, the new Townsville was the only new City Council in rural Queensland out of the reforms, all the others, even Sunshine Coast, became "regional councils" instead.) Your watch list
[edit]Hi I changed the cats to just have Townsville after going into the Category:Townsville/Thuringowa page and only finding a few pages showing up (the ones that showed up on yours and my watch list after I removed Thuringowa) as it seems that ROxBo removed the word Thuringowa from almost all of them (with out any discussion) when he was running though removing every Thuringowa that he could find. I never said any one forced me to change it, as I thought I was helping...sorry....Now why the hell did you tell me to ...as you put it "Get of your high horse" and tell me to be polite when I corrected a spelling mistake you made, all I said when I fixed yours up was .."(fix spelling and added link)" and with the one on the Media in Townsville page....I said "(see what happens when you rush) I was trying to have a little joke...but I should have known better than to try and have a joke on here, and if that editor thought that I was not being polite, then I'm very sorry. Also if I have made several mistakes when adding the facts that Tyrell has replaced Mooney, all you needed to do was let me know and I would have fixed it. Again sorry for helping. riverway
[edit]Hi, linked and connected mean the same thing and the riverway is linked/connected just like what is clearly written in the Vincent, Queensland article. And just so you all know, I have added this so people have a clear idea of where it is not to add the word Thuringowa to the page. surly this explains how it is connected now.Thuringowacityrep (talk) 22:54, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Not that i added the "out of CBD" bit, but funny how it has been there from day 1 (17 March 2006) and never had a problem ...oh please don't take afence but remember when you told me to be polite...your comments at the Vincent page seemds to be more nasty that mine on the media in Townsville.
Townsville info i add
[edit]What do you mean by "this is not an article about the LGA it is for the city itself" i thought this page was about the city of Townsville......and now that Thuringowa has merged in with it doesn't that mean that the size of townsville has got bigger...eg Townsville city was 1,862km2 and Thuringowa city was 1,866km2 add them together and you have the size of the "New" city of Townsville. the info i added showed the size of Townsville. Also the ref i added along with the new figure was correct so why did you remove that...it clearly states on the page "from Reid River in the South-East to Paluma in the North-West" and by adding the 2 figures that are in that ref i added (former Townsville Population and Former Thuringowa population) you get the 2007 figure that is correct now.Thuringowacityrep (talk) 09:58, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
Palm island edits and i must ask.....
[edit]Hi thats ok sorry it wasn't right, i had a feeling that something may have been wrong thats why i didn't change the table to much....only adding the names was a good start in correcting the info, and also i have to ask but is it only me or is ROxBo going around and changing every edit that i make? I ask this becasue every page that i have ever added anything to, he has changed, and it seems that every time i add something to a page he comes along and make a change to it, like the Ross Creek, Townsville page had been tagged because he copied the text from the website, so i reworded it and along he came again and changed what i wrote, ....am i being silly or is this user tring to annoy me, sorry for asking you this but if i don't say something to you i might do something that i shouldn't. Thanks Thuringowacityrep (talk) 12:21, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of Image:March for Mulrunji.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on Image:March for Mulrunji.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only," "non-derivative use" or "used with permission," it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. [2], and it was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19, or is not used in any articles. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:
- state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
- add the relevant copyright tag.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:March for Mulrunji.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Polly (Parrot) 22:14, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of George Colbran
[edit]A proposed deletion template has been added to the article George Colbran, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Frickeg (talk) 04:48, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
- Although I agree with Frickeg regarding the deletion, i'd like to point out that I don't shun WT for creating the page. It may not be according to wikipedia policy, but I believe all upcoming election candidates have the right to a wikipage, and when the election is held, delete the unelected candidates. Timeshift (talk) 06:10, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
- I am not implying anything about WT's creation of the page or his/her general editing; I'm only saying Colbran's not notable now, although before the election there was a very good chance he would be. It's gone to AfD now. Frickeg (talk) 06:52, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
- My apologies, my comment wasn't referring to you - it's just I had previously commented on his contribution in the original discussion and wanted to clarify. Timeshift (talk) 06:57, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

- Hi WikiTownsvillian. Good to see you back at the Howard article. Thought we'd lost you for a while. Cheers, --Lester 05:19, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Lester, yeah I'm afraid I'm not going to be anywhere near active as I used to be although I would like to, but the issues are still fresh in my mind, good to see you and a few others are still hard at it doing really well, and I was very pleased to see the Howard Government article take off! It just didn't seem right that we kept having all these policy/historical arguments based on BLP guidelines. The biggest reward from being involved in Wikipedia has been this! Cheers, WikiTownsvillian 13:26, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
I just cannot bear to apply the federal uncontested seats table to this page! Eugh! I wish there was a more eloquent solution that kept the same slim formatting design of the current table... Timeshift (talk) 08:33, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
What i've done on, for example, South Australian state election, 1915 is as good as any I spose. I note with interest my latest addition at Prime Minister's Avenue, early 2009? Woo! You'd better be going back to Ballarat soon so you can take Forde and Rudd with your cameraphone to keep all the images looking consistent! :P Timeshift (talk) 02:37, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Mulrunji
[edit]I have nominated Mulrunji, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mulrunji. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

File source and copyright licensing problem with File:The Strand water park.JPG
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:The Strand water park.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 15:03, 5 May 2010 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 15:03, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

License tagging for File:Palm Island Traditional dress.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Palm Island Traditional dress.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.
For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 16:05, 27 December 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:JCU Entrance.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:JCU Entrance.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. The file File:Townsville Rockpool 3.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Unused, low quality, no obvious use.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 02:33, 21 August 2022 (UTC)
