Auto edit summary
[edit]Thanks for splitting this out. Low priority, so no pressure, but it would be nice if Xunlink would automatically suggest the edit summary when the page is deleted, e.g., "Removing link(s): Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Example closed as delete" when unlinking from "Example" with the latter clause lifted from the most page's recent deletion summary. czar 06:25, 8 July 2017 (UTC)
- @Czar: Done, automatic edit summaries are now suggested (if the script find a deletion log entry) - Evad37 [talk] 10:58, 8 April 2019 (UTC)
Unlinker shouldn't touch DYK noms
[edit]Review unlinked list item
Template:Did you know nominations/Ralph Tarrant#Ralph_Tarrant:
*... that 109-year-old '''Ralph Tarrant''' is currently the United Kingdom's oldest living man?
This was one of my prompts when closing an AfD discussion today. I think the unlinker could skip the whole
Template:Did you know nominations
space, as those ostensibly shouldn't be unlinked. (Would this apply to the WP:Xunlink tool as well?) czar 22:43, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
Done here too - Evad37 [talk] 10:58, 8 April 2019 (UTC)
Portals
[edit]It was suggested, in an AN thread, that this script could be used to delete traces of deleted portals. As portals are usually introduced by {{Portal|...|DeletedPortal|...}}
rather than [[:Portal:DeletedPortal]], I'm not sure. I would prefer not to damage articles by trying to use your script for something that it wouldn't do correctly. — Arthur Rubin (talk) 03:44, 6 April 2019 (UTC)
- @Arthur Rubin: This script can, at least currently, only unlink plain wikilinks. Any links that are generated from templates are skipped, so it wouldn't be very effective at unlinking portals (articles wouldn't be damaged, you would just get a whole lot of pages being skipped – probably every page, if they're all using {{Portal}} or similar templates). I could probably add a portal unlinking functionality, but it will need to be carefully coded so that it doesn't leave a mess behind, such as empty {{Portal}} transclusions, or empty sections, or empty list items (where {{portal-inline}} is used in a list). - Evad37 [talk] 04:59, 6 April 2019 (UTC)
- @Arthur Rubin: I've updated the script to work with portals which have been deleted. Though since this functionality is new, the edits it makes should be checked carefully (at least at first) in case there are any bugs. - Evad37 [talk] 11:05, 8 April 2019 (UTC)
[Bugs] in removing portals
[edit]I've seen a couple once or twice, but this stuck out. --DannyS712 (talk) 04:53, 26 April 2019 (UTC)
- @DannyS712: Fixed with [1] - Evad37 [talk] 08:54, 26 April 2019 (UTC)
Subject bar
[edit]Hi Evad. The script doesn't handle {{subject bar}} very well. Parts of the template syntax get duplicated. — JJMC89 (T·C) 05:08, 26 June 2019 (UTC)
- @JJMC89: Should be fixed with [2]. The regex wasn't properly accounting for linebreaks within the template. - Evad37 [talk] 09:13, 26 June 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks! — JJMC89 (T·C) 01:51, 27 June 2019 (UTC)
No longer showing in menu
[edit]The script isn't showing in my tab menu anymore in either MonoBook or Vector. Is it showing for you, @Evad37? czar 07:36, 7 December 2019 (UTC)
- @Czar: Fixed, was another case of mediawiki.RegExp scripts not working. I thought I fixed all my scripts back in October, obviously I missed this one. - Evad37 [talk] 00:20, 8 December 2019 (UTC)
