Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:EK disney goodman.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Sdrtirs (talk) 04:34, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest

[edit]

If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Evelyn Knight, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors;
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam);
    and you must always:
  4. avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially neutral point of view, verifiability, and autobiography.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see Wikipedia:Business' FAQ. For more details about what constitutes a conflict of interest, please see Wikipedia:Conflict of Interest. Thank you. --Blanchardb-MeMyEarsMyMouth-timed 15:49, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Mom CBS web 2.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Mom CBS web 2.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 23:19, 27 November 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — ξxplicit 23:19, 27 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your edits on Evelyn Knight should have been made at Evelyn Knight (singer)

[edit]

The article on the American Singer had been moved to the lemma Evelyn Knight (singer) about one month ago, and since then the lemma Evelyn Knight is concerned with the biography of a completely different person (a british con artist as it seems). For reasons that should be obvious I had to completely remove your edits on Evelyn Knight performed at 2015-04-25. Thank you for your understanding. -- Gymel (talk) 07:29, 28 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It should be equally as obvious that the worldly contributions of a fine artist should supersede those of a criminal but clearly you don't know that or couldn't care less.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 40serasongstress (talkcontribs)

What lemma an article carries or is labeled with is a matter almost completely independent of its content. The article formerly known as "Evelyn Knight", and to which you have been contributing, is (currently) to be found as Evelyn Knight (singer). If you have objections with respect to the lemma you will have to discuss that somewhere (sorry I can't tell you exactly where since I am not native to English Wikipedia, I would consider the "other article"s talk page good start).
Your recent actions were not appropriate for at least two reasons: a) you destroyed the article about the other person and b) copy-pasting text to be found at another location creates redundancy and does not preserve the edit history. I assume you have been acting in good faith however effectively your action constituted vandalism and copyright violation at the same time and both should be considered absolute no-gos. -- Gymel (talk) 13:26, 28 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I could say the same about you. Mom's page has been there for over seven years and then you just show up and decide to move it? Really? Thankfully I don't allow my spirit to be darkened by such godless people as you. I wish you a long, healthy, life, you must be very unhappy in there.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 40serasongstress (talkcontribs)

I am Evelyn's sole descendant and any photos I post are from her personal scrapbooks. The Disney/Goodman photo was almost certainly taken by a CBS or NBC staff photographer for publicity purposes and after 75 years is prolly PD by now anyway, not that it matters.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 40serasongstress (talkcontribs)

Your account has been blocked from editing Wikipedia because your username, Knightfamily, does not meet our username policy. Your username is the principal reason for the block. You are welcome to continue editing after you have selected a new username that meets the username policy guidelines, which are summarized below.
Per the username policy, a username should represent an individual and should not: represent a group or organization; be promotional; be misleading (such as indicating possession of special user rights or being a ”Bot" account (unless approved for such purposes)); be offensive or otherwise disruptive. However, a username that contains the name of a organization and also identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or “FoobarFan87" is allowed, though, among others, the guidance on conflict of interest and the policy of paid-contribution disclosure are relevant.
You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our username policy guidelines and create the account yourself. Alternatively, if you wish for your existing contributions to carry over under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:
  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} below. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "Email this user" from their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a change of name request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use. Therefore, please check the list here to see if a name is taken prior to requesting a change of name.
Appeals: If, after reading the guide to appealing blocks you believe you were blocked in error, then you may appeal this block by adding {{unblock|Your reason here}} below this notice. Orange Mike | Talk 21:37, 26 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
