Do you plan on being Liberec?

[edit]

Thanks for your edits on the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2009 article. Much appreciated. Do you plan on being in Liberec for those championships? If so, could you please take some picutres so that they can be uploaded into this article in Wikipedia? It will be hard for me since I live in the US and am unable to travel because of work. Again, thanks. Chris (talk) 18:05, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you are not able to provide camera images at the events, at least you can provide information from the TV screen that I probably may not be able to with the US going to digital television right before the championship and the fact that my cable service does not have Universal Sports or Eurosport for that matter though I will be able to follow the results with the Internet. Thanks. Chris (talk) 18:14, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Regarding your three comments from earlier. The first sentence was clarified. The second comment "fall" is actually "autumn", as how some people in the US. The third comment is thank you for the compliment. Chris (talk) 18:44, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That's great news on the camera. Some of the main focuses should be on the jumps for both ski jumping and the nordic combined parts. In the cross country parts, good pictures could be the relay exchanges, the mass starts, the exchange part of the double pursuit events where they go from classical to freestyle, and start of the interval start events and the cross country part of the nordic comnbined. I know that is a tall order. As far as Flickr goes, you will need to check with Wikipedia policy on this because I don't know. Try and get the pictures into the English language Wikicommons as much as possible. I know that Deep Purple and Elán are performing there, so a few of the festivites would be fun. This is the best news I have received on anything in the past three to four days. I had to go to Tennessee for a family friend's funeral yesterday so I am a little bummed out right now. Chris (talk) 22:26, 25 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Keep trying. Taking picture while you are moving or watching someone who is moving like the ski jumpers, the corss country skiers, or the nordic combined skiers, is not an easy thing to do, but it can be done. The last five images I have uploaded into Wikipedia were all taken in my car, but you have to keep practicing and have patience with yourself on that. Again, thanks. Chris (talk) 03:36, 27 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That's OK. There were about eight good pictures of use, mainly ski jumping, so at least something is out there. From what I read and saw on the Internet, it was a hell of a championships. Chris (talk) 21:14, 4 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It wasn't hell! Sure, Czech press generally has reviewed this negatively, but I think hell is exaggerating maybe. For foreign countries, it has been seen to be a successful event. --Voletyvole (talk) 21:22, 4 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Need a favor. The article is under GA review. The comment on the Czech Press not caring for the event. Can you elaborate on this in the Post-championship comment section. A GA reviewer was rising questions about this. Thanks. Chris (talk) 01:39, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You can use other sources non-English related and can translate them into a reasonable level of English, I can tidy it up to make it more reasonable. I have not been able to do as much today as I would like. The phone line at home has static in it to the point where I am unable to connect to the Internet. The phone company has been advised on this, but the earliest they cna get it resolved may not be until Friday. I suspect it may be cleared out by sometime tomorrow morning or tomorrow afternoon. Chris (talk) 22:29, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I'm not going to translate whole Czech articles into English - I have done this professionally, and it is not so easy (and then I get paid). It is a pity that pretty much 100% of English sources are for positive reviews, while the Czechs are not sympathetic towards the Championships - but I understand that Wikipedia is about saying what is written in the news, so maybe I should remove these unfavorable reviews. --Voletyvole (talk) 06:11, 11 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That is OK. Can you dig up any information regarding the bidding and selection process, along with organization prior to 2007. That would be most helpful. Thanks. Chris (talk) 23:21, 12 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I just wanted to let you know that your efforts on getting the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2009 to GA status will be listed in Quality Progress, the monthly publication of the American Society for Quality in their June issue. Your user name was not mentioned, but that you were from the Czech Republic. I will send you the link when the article comes out. Chris (talk) 21:12, 29 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article will be in the July issue and not the June issue. Sorry about that. I will get you a link nevertheless. Chris (talk) 03:24, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article came out in the July 2009 issue of Quality Progress.
